“I’m Faye Hewitson and I’m 24 years old. I am a fully trained cheerleading coach- and I love my job! I began cheerleading at University in 2006 after a background in gymnastics and dance.
In my second year at university I was voted Captain of the squad and was in charge of over 100 cheerleaders.”
I decided I wanted to continue in the sport after completing my time at university and set up Bay Stormers on 26th June 2009.
Since starting out Bay Stormers have gone from strength to strength and have become a great team, a strong friendship group and fantastic athletes!
Bay Stormers now have over 50 members who compete at Regional competitions.
Faye teaches over 100 cheerleaders per week including after school clubs and university clubs and loves giving everyone a chance to develop their skills and have a go at something new.

Experience
I co-founded Huddersfield Hotshots who are a school based club after being part of Lancaster Roses University Squad. I ran the club for 3 years and, although I am unable to continue coaching due to my distance, they continue to train and succeed.
In 2008-9 I competed with the Halifax-based Diamond Divas, West Yorkshire who came 5th at the UKCA national champoinships after only a few months of training together.
Running the squad
I also have an assistant coach, a squad captain and helper:
Amy Hall (15):
Amy has her assistant coachs qualification enabling to teach basic skills and stunts!
Maisie McCorriston (14):
Maisie will complete her Level 1 qualification in 2012.
These girls come to most practices to help me out and do a brilliant job. The other cheerleaders look up to them as role models and their help is much appreciated.
Parent volunteers: A number of parent volunteers come along to practices and help with the running of the squads and organisation of the competitions.
Mini Squad helper: Debbie Bryant (Also our resident hair dresser at comps)!
Youth Squad helper: Kat Kent
Junior Squad helper: Rachel Hall
Parent Liaison: Sam Burgess
Fundraising Officer: Kara Jackson
Competition Helpers: Kara Jackson and Jo Belmont
Competition Travel and Accomodation Organiser: Clark Kent
Without these volunteers, the club wouldnt run so smoothly so they deserve a big thank you for doing their jobs so well.
